Reading-Children will be tested on Cc, Oo and Gg after we review on Tuesday. We will then be starting Unit 4 about the letter Aa. We will focus on the short a sound as in apple and cat. Children will learn to write Aa on our writing lines as well. Many children have the habit of writing lowercase a as a circle and a line (which don't always touch correctly). We will be working to correct this, writing a c shape and continuing with a line up and down the side, during Unit 4.
Math-Topic 4 is Comparing and Ordering Numbers 1-10. This is very similar to Topic 2 in that we will once again be comparing groups to see how many more or fewer each has. We will also be working on putting numbers in order, ordinal words like sixth and seventh, and learning to use number lines.
In Social Studies we will focus on two themes this week. First we will work on our Social Skills program and review our classroom rules and routines. We will also have a PRIDE Store on Friday. Children will finally be able to spend all the PRIDE cash they have been earning for good behavior!
Our other Social Studies theme is map skills. Children will learn just a bit about geography this week. The class will learn the major featured of maps and direction words as we track our Superkid Alf's adventures around the world.
Special Events- our Holiday Gift Shop is coming up on December 3rd. We will shop around 10:30. Envelopes for money will come home on Tuesday. Please fill out the names of each person your child will shop for and the amount you'd like them to spend. This helps us keep children on track with their spending and enables us to appropriately label each gift when wrapped. Please consider volunteering your time as well. A volunteer form already went home but you can write a note with the date you'd like to come and full or half day on it. Contacting our office or PTO is also an option. We need many volunteers as children require a lot of help with shopping.
