Check out our Twitter feed to see photos showing the many ways iPads are being used at JSC! #ctidepride
Two photos of our class using iPads appeared in today's edition of the Pottsville Republican. One was on the front page!! Our class was so excited! They love working with iPads in class and using them to learn. Today the students took a Reading test on their iPads. They also learned to record videos of each other reading aloud and we took photos of our Science investigation of water. Those photos will be used in our Science notebooks. As the students become more knowledgable about using iPads to complete their work, we will do more projects and presentations with them. Keep an eye on your email over the next week or two. I will be sending a link to a digital project on the states of matter for you to view.
As always, the students were very happy to shop at our classroom PRIDE Prize store today with all of their hard earned Pride dollars. Our class has been earning PRIDE cash regularly at both lunch and co-curriculars due to their good behavior. I have been very pleased to give PRIDE dollars for the excellent homework returned each week and daily good behavior in our classroom. We began the year with $10, $20 and $30 prizes. We have so many students who like to save their money in our PRIDE Bank each week that I added a $40 and $60 section to our store. In addition to being rewarded for their good behavior and hard work, the students are also learning how to manage money and make good decisions for spending that money.
I would like to add a special thank you to a third grade student who used her Pride Cash to buy a pass to come to our room and read a story to our class. She did a wonderful job reading a funny story called Sitting Duck. My class loved it. Thank you Elizabeth for using your PRIDE cash to do a good deed and for doing a wonderful job with the story you chose today! The students were very well behaved Friday. We completed all Reading and Math work and still had time for a few extra special Valentine's day activities. Of course our class really enjoyed giving and receiving valentines on Friday. They also enjoyed an eye spy game we played.
This upcoming week they will be learning about the Presidents, other american leaders and heroes, and American symbols. I will be posting a new PADLET question today to help us reflect of the idea of leaders and heroes. I believe PADLET works best when you you have the padlet app on your own device. I did remove the password to make access easier. I know not all have access to Padlet so I would remind you that this activity is completely voluntary. Any responses we receive will help to guide our classroom discussion in which all students will participate. The sudents will continue to learn about measurement in Math class this week. They are measuring length of objects, comparing weight using balance scales and estimating the capacity of containers. We should have our Topic 12 test on Friday or early next week, depending on the weather. Enjoy the rest of your long weekemd and HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! Today we celebrated the 100th Day of school. The students reviewed numbers 1-100 and they counted to 100 by ones, twos, and tens. They made special hats with 100 decorations sorted into groups of ten and made a number 100 snack. They even wrote about what it would be like to be 100 years old. My class is very proud of what they have learned in 100 days and were imagining what they might learn in 100 years.
The students shared what they have learned in the first 100 days of Kindergarten: I am proud... ...that I can rhyme and read. ~Evie ...that I can add very well. ~Nicholas ...that I can count to 100. ~Shayne and Owen ...that I can count. ~Kayleigh S. ...that I can tell what words rhyme. ~Kiera ...that I can write and draw 100. ~Adam ...that I can count by tens. ~Kamryn ...that I can write numbers. ~Sierra ...that I can read. ~Ava ...that I can write the word cat. ~Havana ...that I can make patterns in Art class. ~Kayleigh G. ...that I can read and write morning messages. ~Spencer ...that I can listen for vowel sounds in words. ~Cole |
