In reading today we focused on naming the letters and identifying some sounds. We began listening for and clapping out words in sentences. We reviewed
The Kissing Hand and the students did an excellent job on a paper recalling story details.
This afternoon we followed up with the book Forest Bright Forest Night. The students compared the stories and began to identify the differences between fiction and non-fiction. They also practiced recalling details by sorting animals from the book into nighttime (nocturnal) and daytime (diurnal) groups. They also learned that looking back through the story is better than just guessing when we are not sure of an answer.
