In Science, the students discovered that some fabrics can absorb water and some can repel water. Yesterday we did a planet Earth project and discovered that our papers were able to absorb paint but repelled shaving cream. It was a messy and fun project as well.

The students will continue to investigate water and fabric in our FOSS Science unit. We will tie this in to our Social Studies Earth Day unit by investigating water pollution and uses for water.

PSSA's are still being administered to the older students this week and our co-curricular classes will continue to be held in the classroom.
We will celebrate Earth Day this week with some special projects and stories. If you recycle or have any special family traditions (cleaning up litter in the neighborhood), please discuss them with your child. They will be welcome to share their ideas for caring for the Earth in school. Kindergarten Show Practice will begin this week! The children are excited about our Country Western theme and are looking forward to learning our new songs and routines. Thank you again to all those who have contributed to our PTO Chinese Auction Disney Basket. Don't forget to check out all of the great prizes on the Chinese Auction for John S. Clarke Elementary School PTO Facebook Page. Although the students were off on Monday April 6th, teachers were in school for an in-service/Act 80 Day. This counted as a day of school and was Day 1 of our schedule. The children missed Library this week so just hold on to your books or send them in to be kept in your child's desk. We will be returning them on Monday April 13th, our next Library day.
