We had a nice Valentine's Day in Room K5. The children had fun delivering their Valentines and we also spent some extra time with our Fourth Grade Buddies. Thank you to everyone who sent in Valentines for me as well.
We have started a new unit in Math on measurement and in Reading we learned about our final Superkid today. His name is Hot Rod. Once we have finished this unit we will continue to study a new letter or two each week and we will read stories about all of the Superkids. The most exciting thing to happen today w We had a very good day in K5 today. The children are enjoying learning about our latest , Superkid, Ettabetta. I have finally posted some new pictures. Check out our February displays on the classroom photos page.
After the last very fun but crazy week, it is nice to get back to a normal schedule. I'm glad that storm on Thursday is supposed to miss us so we can have a full week of school. The children did a great job today despite the fact that some seemed a little tired from Super Bowl partying. We finally chose our new table team names for February. The children chose names related to the holidays this month. We have the Presidents, the Lincolns and the Hearts. Our rewards board has hearts for Valentines Day and children will be earning "candy" in their heart shaped "boxes" for their end of month reward.
It was a short week but we packed in a lot of work and a lot of fun! The children made a dragon and had a Chinese New Year parade on Thursday. On Friday they enjoyed scoring touchdowns on our Super Bowl Math Review football field. We also played a graphing game called Super Bowl Flip and predicted the Packers will win the Super Bowl. Some of our Steelers fans were not too happy about that and are still hoping Pittsburgh will win. The Movie and a Snack Pride Program was a big hit too.
We were able to start our study of calendars and time this week in addition to all of our 100th Day counting activities. Thanks for helping your child with the 100th Day collections. They loved displaying and sharing them with their friends. In Reading the children practiced reading their first Superkids story independently. We will wrap up our letter F unit next week. Happy Birthday Kevin. Have a great weekend everyone. We had many special events planned for this week that will need to be adjusted due to the bad weather. A nutrition program will be rescheduled. We will still try to fit in our Groundhog Day projects and we will share our 100th Day collections. It looks like our 100th Day of School will now be on Friday. We will celebrate Chinese New Year as a part of our Social Studies class on Thursday. I'm not sure if the bullying program is still on for Friday but we will have our Pride Program and do some Super Bowl Math activities at our Super Bowl party on Friday as well. Of course, we will have to fit in all of our Reading and Math work as well :)
If we have off tomorrow, Wednesday, too then Thursday will be Day 4-PSSA and Friday will be Day 5 Art |
