We did notice that some of our students are a bit physical in expressing themselves. This is normal for young children but we do need to discourage this. Please remind your child:
--Hugs are for family. We don't hug without asking first at school.
--Use words to get friends' or teachers' attention instead of poking, tapping or grabbing.
--Do not hit, push, shove, bump or kick when upset or even when just playing games. Games that involve these
actions or weapons/fighting are not allowed.
The following are some academic skills we will cover during the first few weeks after our return to school. You can review them at home as well to ensure your child's success.
--Being able to state his/her own first and last name
--Printing first and last names
--Identifying the letters in the child's name.
--Saying ABCs in order.
--Naming flat shapes (circle, square, rectangle, triangle, hexagon)
--Identifying colors and, soon, color words
--Counting to 25
Reading stories, especially those with rhymes, can also help your child prepare to be a good reader in K!
While it is disappointing and inconvenient that school must be delayed, we are very happy that our administration is currently ensuring that our school is a safe place for our students to grow and learn. We look forward to our return.
