YOU WILL NEED:
SUPPLIES
1. Please label book bags, coats, and anything else you may send to school with your child's name.
2. Your child will need a book bag. We will provide school supplies. You may send in extra pencils if you wish as they are always in short supply.
3. Please do not allow your child to bring toys to school.
4. Kindergarteners sometimes have bathroom accidents or spills in the cafeteria. In a new environment, this is to be expected. You may send in a spare set of clothes to keep in the classroom. These should be placed in a plastic shopping bag clearly labeled with your child's name (we do not have room for extra backpacks). Choose clothes that are dress code appropriate and don't forget extra socks!
SNACK
We have snack time each day. Please send a small snack with your child. Snacks should be dry finger foods that do not require utensils or refrigeration. It is best to place it in your child’s book bag separate from his/her lunch. Children become confused when their snack is placed in a lunch bag and they often eat it at lunch instead of saving it for snack time in the classroom.
LUNCH
You will not need to order lunch for your child. Just add money to your child’s lunch account and money will be deducted each time they buy a lunch. You may send money in the first day of school labeled with your child’s name, my name and our home room (K5).
EVERY DAY TIPS
Book Bag/Folder Check
Please check and clean out your child’s folder and book bag every night. Taking everything out of the “Left at home” side of the folder will help keep the folder from ripping and wearing out. Return folders to school each morning.
Bus Tags
For the first two weeks of school children will wear a bus tag to help adults direct them to the correct buses each afternoon. It must be returned to school each day. There is no need to wear it to school in the morning. Just place it in your child’s book bag as soon as he or she arrives home each day.
Homework
Homework will be given as needed. Children who struggle with printing their name or letters, for example, will be given some extra practice for home. I may occasionally assign a project or activity to the whole class. Please check your folders every night. Any homework will be marked with a homework stamp.
