We have begun Level One of our Kindergarten Reading program, It is called Meet the Superkids and in each unit students will learn all about a new Superkid as they explore one letter. This week they met Cass who loves to cook. The children will learn to recognize and write Cc. They will listen for the c sound (/k/) at the beginning and ending of words. We will also do some writing in conjunction with our cooking theme, You should soon receive an email which will explain how to set up your Superkids account. This will give you access to our Reading games and stories on Superkids Online.
I was out yesterday at a Math training and the children did a wonderful job for the substitute teacher. They had a great day today as well. We have so many helpful children in our class.

The children loved our field trip to Pioneer Tree Farms Fall Festival pumpkin patch. The weather was beautiful! They enjoyed the bounce houses, getting their very own pumpkins, and having some extra free play on the playground. They also went on the wagon ride, through the tree maze, and on a train ride. Back at school, we followed up our field trip with some pumpkin writing and a story all about how pumpkins grow on the farm.
Later that afternoon the children attended the fire safety program. Always a favorite, the program reviewed ways to prevent fires and stay safe in case of a fire. The children were very happy to receive their very own fire fighter helmets. What a great day! The children are so proud of themselves whenever they earn their PRIDE dollars. The have also been enjoying their shopping trips to the classroom PRIDE store each Friday afternoon. While many children choose to buy a reward each week, some choose to save their money in the "bank" for the following week. I love seeing the children make thoughtful choices on how to spend their "money", I am always amazed to see that so many have the patience to save up their money for a bigger prize. They are responding very well to this new school-wide behavior system.
